PBS North Carolina Presents 9/11: We Remember and More Special Programming
This month, we recognize that 20 years have passed since that fateful day of September 11, 2001 when our nation – and our spirit – was forever changed by a terrorist attack. Although the attacks were not physically felt on North Carolina soil, for many North Carolinians, the events of September 11th were deeply personal and impactful.
I’m sure any of you who are old enough to remember can recollect exactly where you were when you heard the news of the Twin Towers collapsing. 9/11 will forever be etched in our memories.
I invite you to watch our new broadcast special 9/11: We Remember where our talented producers Heather Burgiss and Jonathan Duran combine thoughtful storytelling and artful work to give us an intimate look back on that tragic day and how it has shaped us for generations to come.
During the next week, I also invite you to share your own 9/11 memories with us on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter by tagging @mypbsnc.
Sending you my thanks and heartfelt thoughts during this time of remembrance,
Justine Schmidt

America After 9/11
From veteran FRONTLINE filmmaker and chronicler of U.S. politics Michael Kirk and his team, this documentary traces the U.S. response to the September 11 terrorist attacks and the devastating consequences that unfolded across three presidencies. This two-hour special offers an epic re-examination of the decisions that changed the world and transformed America.
America After 9/11 premiered Tuesday, September 7 and is streaming below, on video.pbsnc.org and on the PBS Video app.
9/11 Kids
A compelling documentary about a unique group of Americans: the 16 young people who were with President Bush in a Florida classroom on the morning of September 11, 2001 as the president received the news of the attack. The former classmates, all in their mid-20s, are still trying to find their footing in a country and world shaped so much by 9/11.

PBS NC Passport is an added benefit of station membership, providing exclusive access to an expanded on-demand library of quality public television programming.
Generation 9/11
An intimate film driven by the stories and personalities of its protagonists, who were born in the wake of a global tragedy which, for them, was also deeply personal. But it is also the story an entire generation that has been shaped by the attacks and their aftermath.
Generation 9/11 premiered August 31 and is streaming now online and on the PBS Video app.
