PBS North Carolina Internships

PBS North Carolina offers a robust internship program for currently enrolled students interested in public media for fall, spring or summer unpaid/for credit learning opportunities. Areas of interest include marketing and communications, business administration, fundraising, social media, production, post-production, editing and much more.

How to Apply

  1. Submit your resume and letter of interest to hr@pbsnc.org
  2. Include in the subject line which internship position you are applying for. If you’re interested in multiple positions, please list each position of interest within the email body.
  3. Your letter of interest should include the following information:
    1. Why you feel the internship you’re applying for is a good fit for you
    2. What school you are currently enrolled in
    3. The minimum number of hours you need to complete during the internship; the number of hours per week you can spend interning; whether you have a specific deadline for completing those hours (and what that date is)
    4. Any other internship requirements you must meet

Criteria for Applying

  • Attend an accredited college or university
    AND
  • Be at least a full-time undergraduate student (12 semester hours);
    OR
  • Be a graduate student (9 semester hours)

To provide students with transformational experiences, to offer a trusted learning experience for students interested in a variety of media careers and to educate, inform, entertain and inspire those students.

We strive to serve our interning students as thoroughly and passionately as we do the rest of North Carolina.

Our Goal for Interning Students

  • To make an impact on a student’s work life and career path.
  • To prepare students for careers in their desired media field.
  • To help them gain the necessary experience to position them ahead of the pack.
  • To provide foundational first-hand experience with collaboration, problem-solving and hands-on project experience.

What Interns Can Expect From Their Experience

  • Participation in a mentorship with a member of Senior Leadership.
  • Occasion to share with the organization any final projects or presentations.
  • Opportunity to participate in an exit interview to share experiences, feedback and input.
  • Guaranteed interview when applying for employment with PBS North Carolina after the completion of the internship.
  • Academic credit at the discretion of their institution
