South Florida PBS Changing Seas summer screenings were back for season 16! The event took place on Wednesday, July 17th at NSU's Halmos College of Arts and Sciences with an exciting screening of "Eagle Rays: Soaring on Spotted Wings."
Despite its designation as globally “endangered,” relatively little was known about the whitespotted eagle rays’ ecology and life history. Florida scientists combined cutting-edge technology with creative approaches to gain deeper insight into the movement and diet of this elegant fish – allowing them to experience the world from a ray’s point of view for the first time.
After the screening, featured scientists joined for an engaging talk-back, discussing their experience working on the episode and answering audience questions. The event concluded with a complimentary reception featuring wine and light bites.
Major funding was provided by The Batchelor Foundation. Additional funding was provided by Trish and Dan Bell & The Parrot Family Endowment for Environmental Education.
On Friday, June 28th, 2024, attendees gathered at Savor Cinema in Ft. (@wecreateforever.co).
A highlights reel of all nine of our season 6 winning films was screened, followed by a talk-back with our filmmakers hosted by the South Florida PBS Principal Director of Content and producer of Film-maker, Melissa Harmon. It was an exciting evening of cinema and culture.
