Director of Immersive Experiences & Venue Operations – Contract Position

We're seeking a dynamic leader for a contract opportunity to manage the day-to-day operations of our Boynton Beach immersive venue and the Bailey Cultural & Arts Center. Reporting to the Chief Marketing & Education Officer, this position is responsible for ensuring operational excellence while delivering exceptional visitor experiences that advance the mission of South Florida PBS.
Working collaboratively with content, education, marketing, and operations teams, the Director coordinates the execution of immersive exhibitions, cultural programming, and special events that extend the reach of South Florida PBS beyond traditional broadcasting. Responsibilities include managing ticketing and box office operations, implementing operational standards that enhance the guest experience, supervising front-of-house staff, docents, and volunteers, coordinating venue scheduling and facility operations, and supporting the successful delivery of exhibitions, performances, screenings, educational workshops, and community events that position South Florida PBS as a vibrant cultural destination.
Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered. Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience managing venue, attraction, museum, cultural facility, or similar public-facing operations, including day-to-day site management. Demonstrated experience managing ticketing or box office operations, supervising front-of-house staff and volunteers, overseeing budgets and operational performance, and coordinating exhibitions, performances, immersive experiences, or community events is required. Experience developing educational programming or community partnerships, along with familiarity with immersive media, audiovisual technology, or translating digital content into physical experiences, is preferred. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.

Event Staff for VR Immersive Experience – Part Time Freelance (Summer Season)
South Florida PBS is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Event Staff members to join our team for a fully immersive Virtual Reality (VR) Experience during our summer season. Our Event Staff will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for all visitors. We are looking for individuals who can support guest services, assist with VR equipment, and serve as brand ambassadors in a dynamic, technology-driven environment.
As an Event Staff member for the VR Immersive Experience, you will greet and welcome guests upon entry, providing excellent customer service by proactively assisting with questions or concerns. You will help guide guests through the VR experience, including providing instructions, assisting with headset use, and ensuring proper flow throughout the venue. Strong verbal and interpersonal skills are essential as you support guests, troubleshoot minor technical issues, and help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment. Additionally, you will report any incidents to your supervisor or management, assist guests in navigating the experience, and uphold the integrity of South Florida PBS.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Services & Entry: Handle guest check-in, ticket scanning, and overall entry flow to ensure a smooth and welcoming arrival experience.
VR Experience Support: Assist guests with VR headset fitting, operation, and onboarding while ensuring proper use of equipment and providing basic troubleshooting as needed.
Equipment Reset & Maintenance: Sanitize, reset, and prepare VR stations between uses to maintain cleanliness and operational readiness.
Brand Ambassador: Represent South Florida PBS and immersive programming with a friendly and professional demeanor, answering questions and enhancing guest engagement.
General Assistance: Proactively assist guests with directions, questions, and overall comfort while maintaining an organized environment.
Safety and Compliance: Monitor guest safety within the VR environment, enforce venue policies, and respond to guest discomfort or technical interruptions.
Customer Service: Deliver exceptional guest service to ensure a memorable and positive experience for all visitors.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be 16 years of age or older. Ideal candidates will have a friendly, outgoing personality and a passion for guest service. The ability to remain calm and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment is essential. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Candidates should be comfortable learning and working with VR technology and digital systems. The position requires standing and/or walking for extended periods.
Preferred qualifications for technical support assignments include basic experience or coursework in technology, IT, or related fields, familiarity with troubleshooting hardware or software systems, and an interest in immersive technology, gaming, or digital media.
Work Schedule:
Approximately 20–25 hours per week during the summer season, with shifts including daytime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed based on programming and guest demand. Flexibility is required.

Make a Difference as a Volunteer Event Team Member at South Florida PBS
Are you a student looking to gain hands on experience while giving back to your community? South Florida PBS is inviting students to join our Volunteer Event Team supporting our Immersive Experiences, including Titanic: The Immersive Experience and Pharaoh’s Immersive Experience.
As a volunteer, you will help bring these large scale, interactive events to life by supporting event operations, welcoming guests, and engaging with the public. You will work behind the scenes and on the front lines of immersive storytelling while representing a trusted local media organization.
This opportunity is ideal for students ages 16 and older who enjoy working with people, value community impact, and are interested in events, media, history, or experiential learning. Must be available to volunteer 10 or more hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Volunteering offers real world experience, skill building, and the chance to be part of unforgettable cultural experiences.

FINANCE
Chief Financial Officer
South Florida PBS is seeking a strategic and visionary Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team and help guide the financial future of one of the nation’s leading public media organizations as it expands into new business ventures, immersive experiences, and innovative growth opportunities.
Reporting to the President & CEO, the CFO will oversee the financial health and long-term sustainability of South Florida PBS and its affiliated entities. As a key member of the executive leadership team, this individual will provide strategic direction for all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, treasury management, audits, compliance, investments, and risk management. The CFO will work closely with senior leadership, the Board of Directors, Finance and Audit Committees, and the Foundation Board to support informed decision-making and ensure financial strategies align with organizational priorities and long-term goals.
This role will lead the development of annual operating and capital budgets, oversee financial reporting and internal controls, maintain banking and investment relationships, and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The CFO will also play a critical role in evaluating and supporting new business opportunities, including immersive exhibits, location-based experiences, entrepreneurial ventures, strategic partnerships, and other innovative initiatives designed to diversify revenue and strengthen organizational sustainability. Through financial modeling, forecasting, and strategic analysis, the CFO will help assess the viability of emerging opportunities while balancing mission impact with sound business practices.
In addition, the CFO will oversee organizational risk management, insurance programs, retirement plan administration, and financial policies that protect the organization's assets and support operational excellence. The successful candidate will bring a collaborative leadership style, exceptional business judgment, and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field and hold an active CPA designation. An MBA is preferred. Candidates should have a minimum of ten years of senior financial leadership experience with expertise in nonprofit accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, treasury management, audits, compliance, and investment oversight. Experience working with Boards of Directors and supporting complex organizations through periods of growth and transformation is essential. Experience with for-profit ventures, entrepreneurial enterprises, start-up organizations, and location-based experiences (LBE) is highly desirable. Public media, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organization experience is preferred. Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across South Florida.

Sr. Director, Major Gifts
South Florida PBS is seeking a dynamic and relationship-driven Senior Director of Major Gifts to join our Development team. Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, this role is responsible for designing and executing strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high-capacity donors and prospects capable of contributing $25,000 or more annually. This position plays a critical role in expanding philanthropic support to advance the mission and strategic priorities of SFPBS.
The Senior Director will manage a portfolio of approximately 125–150 major donors and prospects, primarily in Miami Dade County and The Florida Keys. They will develop personalized engagement strategies to create and deepen relationships in order to secure major and transformational gifts. This role also contributes to departmental fundraising goals through research informed planning; effective donor engagement; quality proposals; and thoughtful stewardship efforts, including meaningful meetings, mission-based events, recognition opportunities, and targeted communications. In addition, the Senior Director may lead and mentor a team of development professionals, partner with key volunteers, and collaborate across the organization to enhance fundraising success.
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) and a minimum of 5–7 years of successful major gifts fundraising experience, including demonstrated ability to manage donor portfolios, close significant gifts, and contribute to capital campaigns or planned giving initiatives. Strong communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and maintain strict confidentiality. Experience with donor database systems such as Raiser’s Edge/RENXT is preferred. Candidates must also have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel locally for meetings and events. The candidate should demonstrate initiative, flexibility, strong problem-solving abilities, and a sense of humor to adapt to dynamic situations and foster a collaborative work environment.
This position is hybrid with main office located at the SFPBS Studios in Boynton Beach and a satellite office located in Coral Gables.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. Directly responsible for supporting the Human Resources department in various administrative and operational tasks. This role will assist with HR functions to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of HR processes within the organization. The Part-Time HR Coordinator will work under the direction of the VP, Human Resources and the guidance of the HR Manager.
The HR Coordinator will provide administrative/clerical support to the HR department and will maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, job details, and benefits. Supports in the organization and maintenance of HR records, ensuring adherence to data privacy regulations and company policies. Assists with the recruitment process which may include posting job openings, and scheduling interviews. Works together with the HR team to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new hires. Helps coordinate and assist with All Staff and Department Head Meetings, including set up and strike, catering, etc., team-building activities, and employee events. Provides information to employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs. Generates HR reports as required, including employee headcount, turnover, and other HR metrics. Actively looks for ways to contribute and support the team, consistently anticipating needs and taking initiative without prompting.
High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum of two years of experience in an administrative or HR-related role. Knowledge of HR processes, employment laws, and regulations preferred. Strong organizational and time management skills. Must have excellent verbal and writing skills, be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines and follow through. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work independently. The ability to deal well with people from all walks of life is a must.
Working Hours: The Part-Time Human Resources Coordinator role typically requires 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule to accommodate the organization's needs.
