The Tabernacle Choir & Orchestra at Temple Square perform "Luke 2: The Christmas Story."

The familiar account of Christ’s birth found in the Gospel of St. Luke has long been the traditional centerpiece of The Tabernacle Choir’s Christmas concerts. In this concert, the Nativity story was presented as a video montage of children reading these beloved words together at Christmas time. As an accompaniment to these readings, Mack Wilberg fashioned this wordless nocturne for chorus and orchestra, based on William J. Kirkpatrick’s melody for the much-loved carol “Away in a Manger” and anticipating the traditional closing song “Angels from the Realms of Glory” which follows.

Music: Mack Wilberg
