In North Carolina, voters must register at least 25 days before a regular election. The deadline to register to vote in the general election is October 11, 2024.

Can I register to vote during early voting?
Eligible voters may register to vote during early voting in person at a polling place in their county. Same-day registration is not available for most voters on Election Day.

Do I need an id to vote in North Carolina?
In North Carolina, voters will be asked for photo identification to vote at the polls and for voting by mail. There are many acceptable types of photo ids, and the N.C. Department of Motor Vehicles is offering “no fee” id cards.

In-person early voting for the November 5, 2024 statewide general election begins October 17, 2024 and ends November 2, 2024 at 3 PM.

Can I vote by absentee ballot in North Carolina?
The deadline to request an absentee ballot in North Carolina is October 29, 2024 at 5 PM. Absentee ballots must be returned by 7:30 PM on November 5, 2024.
