Celebrate Anywhere!
We know that not everyone will be able to attend in person, but that won't stop the festivities! With these resources from PBS KIDS, you and your family can still connect and take part in the spirit of Be My Neighbor Day from home, school, or wherever your day takes you. How do you celebrate neighborly kindness?
Resources for Parents & Caregivers
Visit PBS.org/Parents/shows/daniel to find hands-on activities, recipes, and games inspired by Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. Families can explore activities like a Gratitude Jar or Daniel Tiger Puppets, try recipes like Mom Tiger’s Strawberry Banana Ice Pops, and play parent-approved educational games like “Neighbor Day.”
A big part of Be My Neighbor Day is finding simple ways to give back to the neighborhoods we live in. Here are a few child-friendly ways to celebrate kindness and community from home:
Create kindness from home: Make thank-you cards, cheerful drawings, sidewalk chalk messages, or kindness rocks to brighten someone’s day.
Share with others: Choose gently used books, toys, or pantry items to donate to a local organization, food bank, or neighbor in need.
Care for your community: Pick up litter with a grown-up, plant flowers, leave a kind note for a neighbor, or check in on someone by phone or video.
Whether you are a parent, grandparent, caregiver, or educator, these resources can help you share the message of Mister Rogers and Daniel Tiger with the next generation: kindness, caring, and being a good neighbor.

In honor of Idaho Public Television’s 60th year in operation, IdahoPTV's Education team hosted the state’s first Be My Neighbor Day event in Rupert, Idaho, on Saturday, September 27, 2025 to an estimated 325 kids ages 2-8 and their families.
“Every person there made the kids feel welcomed and celebrated. It was a fun, engaging day filled with learning and friendship,” says Terri B., who brought her two grandchildren.
The event included an Idaho Public Television service project for the community, with attendees assembling 250 hygiene kits donated to the Magic Valley Humanitarian Center. The kits contain soap, a washcloth, shampoo, a comb, tissue, and toothpaste, plus toothbrushes donated by Delta Dental.
Throughout the day, families lined up to meet and take pictures with characters Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat from the popular PBS KIDS series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.
“We had so much fun and my 3-year-old niece just loved meeting Daniel Tiger," says Steph R., a Rupert parent. “I hope you bring more events like this to our area.”
Local partners hosted their own science, math, and art activity booths in Historic Rupert Square, including DeMary Memorial Library, Idaho Association for the Education of Young Children, Idaho STEM Ecosystem, Rupert Boys and Girls Club, United Way of South Central Idaho, Minidoka Memorial Hospital, SPARK Afterschool, Burley Public Library, Herrett Center for Arts and Science, Minidoka National Historic Site, and Idaho National Laboratory.
