Internships at PBS North Carolina

PBS North Carolina offers a robust internship program for currently enrolled students interested in public media. Areas of interest include marketing and communications, business administration, fundraising, social media, production, post-production, editing and much more.

Our internship program provides students with transformational experiences and offers a trusted learning experience for students interested in a variety of media careers. We strive to serve our interning students as thoroughly and passionately as we do the rest of North Carolina.

Criteria for Applying

  • Attend an accredited college or university
    AND
  • Be at least a full-time undergraduate student (12 semester hours) or a graduate student (9 semester hours)
    OR
  • Be a recent college graduate

The Internship Experience

In an internship with PBS North Carolina, you will gain deep knowledge in the field, have wide exposure to all areas of the business and mentorship time with a member of our senior leadership team. You will collaborate with staff and directly contribute to meaningful work in your department.

Our Goals for Interning Students

  • To make an impact on a student’s work life and career path.
  • To prepare students for careers in their desired media field.
  • To help students gain the necessary experience to position them ahead of the pack.
  • To provide foundational first-hand experience with collaboration, problem-solving and hands-on project experience.

What Interns Can Expect From Their Experience

  • Participation in a mentorship with a member of Senior Leadership.
  • Occasion to share with the organization any final projects or presentations.
  • Opportunity to participate in an exit interview to share experiences, feedback and input.
  • Guaranteed interview when applying for employment with PBS North Carolina after the completion of the internship.
  • Academic credit at the discretion of their institution.
