LAFAYETTE, Colo. — The funeral service for Boulder Police Officer Eric Talley was held Tuesday, March 30 at 11 a.m.
Talley, 51, was one of 10 people killed in the March 22 shooting at the Table Mesa King Soopers in Boulder.

Reverand Daniel Nolan said Talley didn't lose his life in the shooting. Rather, "he gave it."
Talley was the first police officer on scene when a gunman opened fire inside the grocery store. Boulder PD Chief Maris Herold said Talley’s actions saved lives.
In a brief speech following the shooting, President Joe Biden called Talley the “definition of an American hero.”
Talley's memorial service, which was open to the public, was at the Flatirons Community Church in Lafayette, Colorado. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance was limited.
During the service, Talley's children shared a poem they wrote for their father for Christmas in 2019 called "Our Unsung Hero."
"May the Angels watch over you and guard you on your way," the final lines of the poem read. "May God bless and protect you and bring you home each day."

A memorial for Talley outside the Boulder Police Department (1805 33rd St.) continues to grow.
