RENO, NV (APR 30, 2026) – Following a $1.3 million loss in annual federal funding, PBS Reno has continued to provide trusted, award-earning programming without any interruption to local productions or reductions to staff. Robust financial support from the community is keeping PBS Reno strong; this financial support is valuable, critical, and must be maintained to secure PBS Reno’s future.

Today, contributions from the community make up 100% of PBS Reno’s annual operating budget.

“We are fortunate to serve a region that supports us so well,” said Kurt Mische, PBS Reno President & CEO. “Given the loss of our federal funding, it is more important than ever for those who watch and enjoy our services support them financially.”

PBS Reno cordially invites EVERYONE to participate in Public Media Giving Days, the annual two-day event when every dollar adds up to support PBS Reno’s local programming, Curiosity Classroom workshops, and many more valuable services enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people each month.

The 4th annual Public Media Giving Days are taking place May 1 and 2, 2026. People can make a financial contribution in any amount by calling or texting 775.600.0550 or by visiting pbsreno.org/donate.

“Since last July’s rescission, we’ve seen just how much our community values public media, from trusted journalism to educational resources and local storytelling,” said Emma Glenn, PBS Reno Vice President of Development. “Public Media Giving Days offer a meaningful opportunity for people to further their commitment. That continued support will be essential as we look ahead to ensuring PBS Reno can continue serving our region for years to come.”
