Meet Dean Hanks

Dean M. Hanks is Vice President of Development at Bellarmine Preparatory School in Tacoma WA; a position he was promoted to in September of 2012 after being initially hired to head up Major Gifts and Planned Giving for Bellarmine in March of 2011. He is responsible for all fundraising, special events and alumni relations for the 95-year-old institution. 

Prior to joining Bellarmine, he was Executive Director of the Goodwill Foundation, the fund development arm of Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier region headquartered in Tacoma, Washington and led their successful Capital Campaign to build the Milgard Work Opportunity Center. He has been working with not-for-profit organizations for more than 40 years, spending more than twenty years in senior leadership positions in United Ways throughout the country, including CEO of the United Ways of Snohomish County and Thurston County in Washington State and the Berkshire United Way in Massachusetts and as Campaign Director for the United Way of Pierce County. He is a graduate of Brandeis University in Boston, Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He has done graduate work at Seattle University in the Not-for-Profit Leadership Program and has attended the United Way of America Senior Leadership Institute at Stanford University. He is a member and former Board member of the Rotary Club of Tacoma #8.
