Digital Media Specialist/Production Assistant
Full-Time/Freelance Opportunity

Are you passionate about the oceans and science communication? South Florida PBS is looking to hire a fulltime Digital Media Specialist/Production Assistant for its nationally distributed marine science series www.changingseas.tv. The Digital Media Specialist is a key member of the Changing Seas team, responsible for curating, creating, and maintaining content on multiple social media channels, the series’ website, and other digital platforms, coordinating in-person and virtual outreach events, and assisting the episode producers.

The right candidate is flexible and works independently in a fast-paced environment and is a detail-oriented team player and demonstrated self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects while prioritizing work assignments. Ability to adhere to tight deadlines is a must. Interest in and basic knowledge of science communication required (knowledge of key issues/players in marine science preferred). Understanding of and adherence to journalism and PBS ethics standards required. Working knowledge of Premiere Pro and Photoshop/Lightroom for light editing work. Knowledge of video/audio files & codecs appreciated. Previous experience writing, editing, and creating social media content. One to two years of experience with social media platforms for a brand and utilizing social media management and analytics tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent time management and organizational skills, with a strong focus on details, ability to multitask, clearly communicate with team members and supervisors, and follow through. Must be able to work during non-business hours as needed. Valid driver’s license required and must be able to drive company van as needed. This is a 35 hour a week position based in South Florida. Freelance Production Opportunities

Freelance Producers, Associate Producers, and Production Assistants are occasionally needed for various South Florida PBS productions, including public affairs, educational, arts and science programming. Candidates who possess excellent oral and written communication skills, computer proficiency, and knowledge of social media platforms may be considered when needed. DEVELOPMENT

Director, Major Gifts

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. Directly responsible for devising and managing comprehensive and effective strategies for the acquisition of major and planned gifts from capable and qualified current and potential donors including working to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit and steward individual donors, prospects and family foundations. This includes devising effective strategic planning and face to face meetings to ensure a strong base of ongoing financial support to fuel SFPBS’ mission and strategic plans. Manages a fluid portfolio of 125 to 150 current and potential major donors and prospects with a primary focus on Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

College graduate with emphasis on non-profit development management including major gifts and capital campaigns, business, public relations, and or equivalent comparable work experience. Preference for candidates with CFRE. Excellent writing skills are essential. Minimum of five to seven years of proven success in building strong, effective philanthropic relationships-including prospect identification, engagement, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. Specific experience and knowledge with emphasize on a successful track record in the areas of non-profit management; major gifts; planned giving; annual giving programs; capital campaign management; foundation funding; and event planning and coordination. Experience with Raiser’s Edge/RENXT is preferable.

Major Gifts Officer (Part-time/or Contract) – Health & Wellness

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team in a part-time or contract capacity. Reporting to the Principal Director Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for devising and managing effective strategies and business plans to identify, engage, cultivate, solicit and steward individual donors, prospects and family foundations capable of contributing $10,000 or more annually primarily for the health and wellness content, to ensure a growing base of financial support for South Florida PBS. Manages a fluid portfolio of at least 75 qualified current and potential major donors, family foundations and planned giving prospects primarily those with a passion for health and wellness.

In collaboration with the Principal Director Major Gifts devises, implements and monitors strategic relationship plans and prospect management goals including the number of contacts made monthly, solicitation plans and dollars to be raised per year. Works closely with development team to develop and implement strategies and programs for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors.

College graduate with emphasis on non-profit development management including major gifts and capital campaigns, business, public relations, and or equivalent comparable work experience. Preference for candidates with CFRE. Minimum of 5-7 five years of experience and proven success in non-profit management and major gifts fundraising. Specific experience with capital campaigns and planned giving is preferable. Excellent writing and communication skills. Ability to deal with people from various socioeconomic, cultural and professional backgrounds in an effective and persuasive manner. Maintaining confidentiality as it relates to donors is required. Must be able to work effectively and collaboratively in both a remote, independent environment as well as in an office setting and adhere to the organization’s Remote Working policy. Computer literate with experience in Raiser’s Edge/RENXT is preferable.

ENGINEERING

Sr. Director, Technology/Operations

South Florida PBS is searching for a Sr. Director of Technology and Operations ready to lead us into the future of next-generation media technologies and infrastructures as the organization shifts from traditional broadcasting to new platforms based on IP and cloud-based solutions.

Under the general supervision of the Sr. VP Technology/Operations the Sr. Director, Technology/Operations is responsible for strategically leading the South Florida PBS technology and operations teams. Fully assuming the leadership role, steering from the front, working side-by-side with highly skilled engineering personnel to achieve the goals of SFPBS. Facilitates short and long-term technology planning including, but not limited to, establishing technical standards, methods, and priorities. Works collaboratively with peers within the technology division to ensure that all engineering and IT capabilities for South Florida PBS are innovative and solution oriented, meeting current and future needs. Responsible for overseeing the operations and maintenance functions of all technical personnel, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure a smooth and efficient operation for broadcast, production and NexGen endeavors. Working with the SVP, assists in developing and executing the strategic direction, goals, and objectives for the division.

Maintains a good working knowledge of the company’s broadcast operations, networking infrastructure and RF technical facilities. Researches new technologies as they may apply to South Florida PBS. Maintains technical leadership within the industry; recommends, plans, and designs technical and equipment changes. Acts as a resource and liaison between Technology division and other departments. Maintains compliance with all FCC rules and regulations. Develops and manages operational budgets and maintains proper documentation.

Bachelor’s degree preferred in related field. SBE certification or equivalent work experience. Seven to ten years of experience working in a broadcast facility or in the broadcast field. Familiarity with television operations and content creation. Strong IT based skills, networking, and IP video distribution infrastructure. RF experience is a must. Knowledge of planning, technical design, construction, maintenance and operation of all aspects of broadcast facilities. Proven experience leading a diverse team.

Able to communicate with personnel at all levels. Ability to follow through on objectives without direct supervision. Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills. Embraces hands-on leadership strategy. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must have an enthusiasm for the mission of South Florida PBS.

Must work well under pressure.

MEMBERSHIP

Member & Viewer Services Representative (Freelance/PT)

Excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team. Responsible for assisting with support activities in the Member Services Department. Will assist in providing high quality member service support via telephone, e-mail, mail and in person. Will work independently and as part of a team to resolve a diverse set of issues for viewers and members. Manages members account regarding inquiries, billing issues, premiums, data entry and more. Serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately.

Notifies company personnel of visitor arrival. Assists security officer with executing established procedures. Assist with on-air pledge drives, concerts and special events designed to cultivate and strengthen relationship with members and viewers. During campaigns will assist with on-set logistics including supervision and training of the volunteers. Assists in the maintenance and accuracy of all entries into all associated databases as well as the online donation website.

Ideal candidate will be a high school graduate with one year of customer service experience. Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is a must! Good oral and written communication and people skills with a keen ability to relate well with others is essential to this position. This position requires a flexible schedule; will work occasional nights and weekends. Must have good comprehensive and documentation skills, strong time management skills and must maintain excellent attendance.

This position requires you to perform work at our SFPBS facility located in Boynton Beach. All offers of employment are contingent upon clear results of background checks and drug tests.

UNDERWRITING AND SALES

Director Business Development Underwriting

This is an excellent opportunity for the right sales professional to join our team! Under the general supervision of the Managing Director SFPBS, the Director of Business Development and Underwriting will be responsible for selling Underwriting and Sponsorship deals that drive new and existing revenue for the company’s media properties.

The Director of Business Development and Underwriting will create, execute, and drive revenue growth across all of South Florida PBS’s Broadcast, Cable and Digital properties including, WPBT, WXEL The Health Channel and COMTEL Inc. through Underwriting, and creating strategic partnerships. Find innovative ways to engage and deliver value to sponsors who are new to PBS. Cultivate new and existing relationships with corporations, ad agencies, and local businesses. Convert sponsors and advertisers from existing relationships to reach the South Florida public television audience through the SFPBS properties online and over the air. Work collaboratively and strategically with the Underwriting team to deliver the highest possible returns for the company. Closing business through a strong volume of calls, existing contacts, meetings, and proposals is paramount to success in covering the large territory this position provides.

Required Skills & Experience:

· A minimum of five years demonstrated experience in selling broadcast underwriting and or advertising
· BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university
· Experience in digital media with an understanding of how it is bought and sold
· Working knowledge of media attribution and analytics
· Excellent computer skills and experience with CRM software (Microsoft Office, RE, and Salesforce preferred)
· An individual who works with a sense of urgency to close business
· Proven history of delivering on sales targets

Additional Preferred Experience:
Candidates with sales experience and relationships in any of the following areas will strongly be considered:

· Healthcare and Pharmaceutical TV advertising sales experience
· National TV syndicated sponsorship sales experience
· Digital sales of Media Properties
· Integrated content sales
