RENO, NV (APR 24, 2026) – PBS Reno is thrilled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ARTEFFECTS, the award-earning arts and culture program produced by PBS Reno and hosted by Beth Macmillan, who serves as Executive Director of Artown

“This incredible series has given so many regional artists a spotlight they could never have received elsewhere,” said Macmillan. “Our community is incredibly rich in the arts, and PBS Reno, along with the series’ sponsors, has helped make many artists’ dreams come true — offering a true testament to their dedication to their craft. It is a tremendous honor for me to host this series, and the connection between PBS Reno and Artown has been forever strengthened as a result.”

On April 26, 2026 at 6:30pm, PBS Reno will broadcast a special compilation episode featuring four of Macmillan’s favorite segments on PBS Reno 5.1 or Spectrum 785. The episode will be posted online for audiences to stream anytime, from anywhere.

Since its debut on February 5, 2016, the producers of ARTEFFECTS have created 258 unique segments that highlight local artists and events; 168 of those segments have been selected for national distribution by WNET THIRTEEN – America’s flagship PBS station in New York – to several PBS member stations around the country, giving multiple audiences a positive glimpse into the vibrant arts scene found in northern Nevada and surrounding areas.

“We are so fortunate to have featured hundreds of local artists on ARTEFFECTS,” said Rebecca Cronon, PBS Reno Content Creator. “Each locally produced episode represents hundreds of hours of time – collective time spent by the artists who share their work, videographers who film their processes, editors who polish the stories, and our host Beth Macmillan and the entire PBS Reno staff who make this series happen from start to finish. It’s truly an honor and a delight to have been part of this series for the past ten years.”

ARTEFFECTS is PBS Reno’s most decorated series, having earned 34 awards including:

• 10 Communicator Awards of Excellence – Gold
• 15 Communicator Awards of Distinction – Silver
• 7 Silver Telly Awards
• 2 Bronze Telly Awards

“When we launched ARTEFFECTS, we had no idea what to expect—only a belief that this region’s vibrant arts community deserved to be seen and celebrated far beyond our own backyard,” said Megan Myers, PBS Reno Vice President of Content. “Ten years, 34 awards, and 168 nationally distributed segments later, the response continues to be remarkable. This show stands as a testament to the power of local public television and the essential role it plays in telling local stories. It’s a privilege to share these voices with the world.”
