Starting on Sunday, April 21, the episode will also be available online at www.pioneer.org/prairiesportsman and www.youtube.com/@PrairieSportsman.

In “Friends in L.O.W. Places,” host Bret Amundson visits a group of retired 3M coworkers, who are longtime fishing friends, on an annual angling trip to Lake of the Woods. The group reflects on a tradition that started in the 1980s while they enjoy fishing for Lake of the Woods walleyes.

The next segment, “Spiny Invaders,” shows how spiny waterfleas are interrupting the aquatic food web in some of Minnesota’s most popular walleye lakes. The invasive zooplankton has been found in 23 of the state’s inland lakes since they first arrived in the 1990s through the Great Lakes shipping industry. Lakes where spiny waterfleas have been found are posted with warning signs to stop their spread.
